Hello Farm Friends,
This week we got Kels back and she made three helpers working on the farm and what a difference three extra hands makes. We have tackled some of the crazy spring stuff, like fighting careless weeds, removing garlic scapes, weed-weed-weeding!, and so much more, plus our grass actually got cut which makes all forms of life around here just a bit happier!
The crops are looking good and if we can just keep the bugs off and weeds away from them all should be well. I am beginning to get a hankering for some fresh spring steamed broccoli and from the looks of things that is not too far from reality.
There is a gentleman at the market who has asked each week since the market opened if we have any beans or butterbeans, peas etc. I suppose these must be his favorite vegetables of all times and perhaps the only ones he will eat because he always goes away empty handed from our booth. It is hard to tell him that ours haven't even bloomed yet, well the English peas have bloomed, but not the hint of a pod yet. This kind of makes me sad that he is so concerned about legumes because there are SO many great vegetables in season right now. Soon it will be too hot for the crisp lettuces, spinach, kale and so many other yummy leafy greens, so enjoy a big old salad, a good fresh glass of juice or whatever you favorite spring veggies are while they are here and in season. I promise you will miss them when they are gone!
Stones River Market, Murfreesboro fresh food option
We are proud to be members of the Stones River Market, a member of locallygrown.net. This is a great advancement for farmers allowing customers to become members of an "online" market, choosing products from many area farmers, but picking up their orders in one location, with one bill and your food all ready to go! Please visit . Stones River Market Locally Grown to see this week's list of available items. Orders can be placed Sunday-Tuesday (you get an email telling you the market is open after you sign up!) Delivery in Murfreesboro is in the downtown area around Cannonsburg/Hoopers Supply. For more information please visit the website and contact the market manager!
Tuesday Night On-Farm Market
The Online Market will not be open this week so that our family can attend an extended family member's funeral. Thanks for your understanding.
