Hello Farm Friends,
Jim and I both feel like we have given our souls to something…at least our biceps, hamstrings and various other muscles we did not know we owned and apparently rarely used….however we are proud to announce that Hoophouse 3 is now complete!!! Yeah! We are so happy to have one under our belt. There is another full house awaiting construction, but we aren't thinking about that just now haha! We will begin that construction in the next two weeks. We have to take at least a week off to do important family things like wash clothes and clean the house!! Speaking of cleaning the house…I cannot believe how much dirt and mud we have tracked in. I cannot believe how dirty our bodies and clothes have been the last few weeks and trust me…I am no stranger to dirty laundry…it is just amazing though. When giving the boys a bath, the water turned brown seconds after I put them in. But how could I expect differently when they entertained themselves while Jim and I were working by rolling in the dirt, digging, piling, moving dirt…the dirt was their best friend. Yes they had the dirt, a fresh pile of compost and a striped lizard to keep them entertained as we put in a very hard, but rewarding week. Ahh farm boys…just add dirt!
Ps…we will be back in vegetable action in a few weeks…tomatoes and peppers look promising, more beans and hopefully some crops from the hoophouses if the grasshoppers will quit eating YOUR food!
We are now taking orders for shares of our 2008-09 Winter CSA. The CSA will begin the first weekend in November and run through the last weekend in April. We offer you a half bushel box of veggies every other week during the winter months. We have two pickup options, Thursday afternoon or a Friday-Saturday pickup. All shares must be picked up here at the farm in Eagleville. Once all shares have been spoken for we will try to join up groups by location for anyone interested in sharing pickup duties. We have two payment options: monthly, or in full up front for a discount. A deposit of $50.00 is required to reserve your spot in our Winter CSA. If you are interested in learning more about our Winter CSA, please visit our website at Winter CSA Info or send me an email and I can email you our info sheet.
Thursday Night On-Farm Pickup
